United Nations Day, on 24 October, marks the anniversary of the day in 1945 when the UN Charter entered into force. On October 24, 1945, after six years of war, the United Nations Charter came into force. The United Nations was born.

Since 1967, the annual celebrations of International Literacy Day (ILD) have taken place on 8 September around the world to remind policy-makers, practitioners, and the public of the critical importance of literacy for creating more literate, just, peaceful, and sustainable society.

Why is Teachers' Day celebrated in India? 
 In India, Teachers' Day is celebrated on September 5th, the birthday of  Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a great teacher and the second President of India. 
Dr. Radhakrishnan believed that teachers should be honored and respected. 
He suggested that instead of celebrating his birthday, people should celebrate Teachers' Day to honor teachers across the country. 
Why is World Teachers' Day celebrated? 
 World Teachers' Day is a day to celebrate teachers' contributions to education. It is also a day to reflect on the support teachers need to fulfill their roles.
